Clara Streit chosen as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse
Clara-Christina Streit will take over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse in May. The 55-year-old German-American will succeed Martin Jetter, who announced two and a half months ago that he would be stepping down after the next Annual General Meeting.
Streit worked for McKinsey for 20 years, including as a Senior Partner, before shifting her professional focus to work on supervisory boards in 2012. Amongst others, she was on the supervisory board of Italian bank Unicredit, and will still be at the Portuguese retail group Jeronimo Martins until May.
She has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Börse since 2019 and also sits on the Supervisory Board of housing construction company Vonovia, where she is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board. She is also Chairwoman of the Government Commission on the German Corporate Governance Code, so is very familiar with all aspects of corporate governance.
At the same time, the Supervisory Board of the stock exchange operator has appointed Jens Schulte to succeed Gregor Pottmeyer as CFO. Schulte is currently the CFO of Thyssenkrupp. He only joined Thyssenkrupp in June, so had to hit the ground running. In addition to being responsible for finance, he also assumed responsibility for the Apex performance programme. From February 2025, he was also to assume the role of Chief Human Resources Officer on an interim basis. When asked over the summer about the reasons for his move from Mainz-based glass manufacturer Schott to Thyssenkrupp, the 53-year-old said that he was attracted by the currently most complex transformation story in German industry.
The Deutsche Börse Supervisory Board has also announced that Christian Kromann will become a member of the Executive Board responsible for Investment Management Solutions, from the beginning of 2025. Under this umbrella term, the stock exchange summarises strategically important activities such as software solutions, ESG data and ESG research, as well as the Group's indices with SimCorp and ISS Stoxx. Kromann (52) will relinquish his current position as CEO of Deutsche Börse subsidiary SimCorp at the end of 2024.
